Carlton Film’s release of Doug Sutherland’s feature thriller Lakefront continues to gather momentum after successful launches in Empire Theatres at both Crystal Palace (Dieppe) and Regent Mall Cinemas (Fredericton) over the weekend.  Kelley Currie, district manager for Avon Canada, confirmed that Avon Canada has agreed to support the feature release of Lakefront in theatres across Canada by giving away $100 of Avon products in a public draw at each location.

“Lakefront’s demographics favour a female audience and, obviously, so do ours,” said Ms. Currie, “Avon is the premier direct sales beauty company and we support projects that are important to women, such as the Flame Crusade against Breast Cancer. Lakefront tells a very strong story that will appeal to many women across Canada”.  “We are very optimistic about the Canadian movie release and very happy to be associated with Avon Canada,” said Nicholas Kinsey of Carlton Films.

Lakefront is a Cinegraphe/ Fundy Production Associates feature release (Quebec/New Brunswick interprovincial co-production) in ultrastereo surround sound starring Dennis Cutts, Julie Reitzel, James Collins, Silya Wiggins, Lowell Gasoi, Greta Papageorgiu, and Phil Harrison. The movie was shot in the Edmundston region of Northern New Brunswick during the summer of 2002. This is a sexy, character-driven story of a troubled recluse trapped in the passions of a small town. Among the cast are local actors Adam Ouellet, Shawn Fitch, Pauline Cronin, Bob Vienneau, Janet Foster, Sebastian MacLean, Barry Hatt and Anne Keery.

The sound effects were recorded in Eastern Europe and the sound mix at the Studio SFX in Quebec City. The laboratory was Technicolor of Montreal and the ultrastereo surround sound was encoded by Studio Sound in Rome, Italy. This feature film is a collaboration of New Brunswick Film, The Movie Network of Toronto, Movie Central of Vancouver, Super Écran of Montreal and CBDC Southwest.

Upcoming theatrical releases in Ontario, Quebec and the State of Maine are planned in the fall.
